Welcome to our web site! At First Baptist Church in Waynesville, our goal is to continue the work of Christ in the world. We believe every member of our church is a minister who should seek to share the love of Christ with our world. We encourage you to explore this sight and find opportunities for spiritual growth and development for every age, preschool to senior adults. We hope that you will find a place to get connected!
Waynesville Relay for Life, May 9-10
What is Relay for Life?
The American Cancer Society's relay for life is an event that celebrates cancer survivorship and allows us to reflect and remember those we have lost to cancer. It also gives us an important opportunity to raise money for continuing cancer research.
When and where is Waynesville Relay for Life?
It takes place at Vance Street Park track. The Relay begins at 6:00 pm Friday, May 9 and ends at 6:00 am Saturday, May 10.
What are the events for cancer suvivors?
A Survivors Lap kicks off the Relay at 6:00 pm on May 9. There is also a surviors dinner at Tuscola High School on April 22.
How does Relay for Life work?
The Relay is a walking event around a track, which takes place over a 12 hour time period. Your team must have one member of the team walking on the track at all times. You may sign up for a shift throughout the night.
How can I get involved?
Two groups of people can represent our church: (1) Cancer survivors for the dinner and Survivors Lap. (2) Adventerous people to form a relay team and spend the night, taking turns walking around the track. With so many of those in our congregation effected by cancer, this is a great opportunity to show our support. If you are interested, contact David or Dottie Gross.
